How it works with a Jarvis business manager
Every Jarvis location in Adelaide has a business manager on site. Instead of applying to lenders one at a time and collecting knock-backs, they take your situation to a panel of lenders and bring back the options you qualify for, so the loan and the car get sorted in the same place.
That panel includes Toyota Finance, Subaru Finance, Skoda Financial Services, Angle Auto Finance, Taurus Motor Finance, Peugeot Financial Services, PowerTorque Finance and MoneyMe. See the full provider details below. Different lenders suit different situations, which is the practical reason to go through someone who deals with all of them daily. All finance is subject to approval and to the lender's terms.
Loans arranged this way are normally at a fixed rate for a fixed term, so your repayment stays the same for the life of the loan and a rate rise does not change what you pay. In many cases finance can cover the full purchase price including on-road costs, so a deposit is not always required. Whether that is available to you depends on your circumstances and the lender's assessment.

What you will need to apply
Applying is straightforward if you come prepared. Bring photo identification, normally a driver's licence, along with proof of income such as recent payslips, or business and tax records if you are self-employed. Your business manager will also ask about your regular expenses, any existing loans, credit cards or buy-now-pay-later accounts, and your residential and employment history.
It is worth knowing that unused credit card and buy-now-pay-later limits count against your borrowing capacity even when the balance sits at zero, because lenders assess the limit rather than the balance. Closing accounts you no longer use before you apply is one of the few things that reliably helps.

Affordability Calculator
Use our affordability calculator to get an idea of what your repayments could be. This calculator is a guide only and does not represent an offer of finance. All loans are subject to approval. Terms and conditions apply.
*The purpose of this calculator is to assist you in estimating a maximum budget for purchasing a vehicle. The figure provided is an estimate only and includes both the maximum loan amount and deposit amount. The figure is calculated using the information you provided and certain assumptions made by Jarvis. It is not an assessment of the loan amount you can afford. The results generated do not constitute any representation, understanding or agreement by Jarvis or by any lender that you will be eligible for, or provided with, credit. Assumptions made by Jarvis in calculating the loan amount figure include that the loan will be for a fixed term, at fixed interest rate for the entire term, and with payment by fixed repayment amounts at a fixed repayment frequency, along with other assumptions such as how the interest is calculated. We need to make these assumptions as we cannot predict how these will change in the future. The calculator uses a weekly repayment frequency but some lenders may only offer a monthly repayment frequency. The calculator does not take into account your personal circumstances or any fees and charges or government taxes which may apply. You should not rely on this calculator for the purpose of making a decision whether to apply for finance. Speak directly to one of our finance specialists for more information.
Get pre-approved before you shop, and know what to check
Pre-approval is worth doing before you fall for a particular car. It tells you your real budget upfront, so you shop with a firm number rather than finding a car first and stretching to afford it. Use the affordability calculator above to get a rough sense of what a weekly repayment translates to; it is a guide only and not an offer of finance.
Before you sign anything, ask your business manager to walk you through a few things in dollars rather than percentages. Ask for the comparison rate rather than just the advertised rate, since the comparison rate folds in the fees and is the number that lets you compare two loans honestly. Ask for the total amount payable over the full term, and whether there is a balloon or residual payment at the end, since a balloon lowers your monthly repayment but leaves a lump sum owing when the term finishes and you need a plan for it. Ask about early payout fees in case you want to clear the loan ahead of schedule, and what any add-on products cost over the life of the loan. If something is not clear, ask for it in writing.
Common questions
Can I get car finance through a dealership in Adelaide?
Yes. Every Jarvis location has a business manager on site who arranges finance through a panel of lenders, so you can sort the loan and the car in the same place. Finance is available to approved applicants.
Do I need a deposit to finance a car?
Not always. In many cases finance can cover the full purchase price including on-road costs. Whether that is available depends on your circumstances and the lender's assessment.
What do I need to apply for car finance?
Photo identification, proof of income such as recent payslips, details of your regular expenses and any existing debts, and your residential and employment history. Self-employed applicants are usually asked for business and tax records instead of payslips.
What is a comparison rate and why does it matter?
The comparison rate includes the fees attached to a loan as well as the interest rate, so it reflects the real cost. Two loans with the same advertised rate can have quite different comparison rates. It is the number to use when comparing offers.
What is a balloon payment?
A balloon, sometimes called a residual, is a lump sum left owing at the end of the loan term. It lowers your regular repayments but you need a plan to pay, refinance or trade out of it when the term ends. Ask for the balloon amount in dollars before you agree to one.
Should I get pre-approved before choosing a car?
Yes, it is worth doing. Pre-approval tells you your real budget, so you shop with a firm number rather than finding a car first and stretching to afford it.
